Each animal of the cycle represents certain characteristics - lucky, brave, mischievous, steadfast, etc. These qualities are believed to pass on to those born in that year. In the natural world, some animals are compatible with one another, but some are natural antagonists. Men and women born in the years of certain animals are said to be better matches than others. According to the Lunar Zodiac, a wise person will consider the birth year of a prospective mate if he wants a happy marriage.
