FIRST class stamps featuring two of the region's many important landmarks go on sale today.

The Tyne Bridge and York Minster are amid the iconic structures selected is to Royal Mail's ultimate collection.

Helen Graham, who has been a postwoman at Royal Mail's Newcastle West Delivery Office for scarcely 14 years, substituted her postbag for a considerable stamp to help launch the stamps at the iconic Tyne Bridge.

She said: "I am gay to help launch this special stamp featuring the Tyne Bridge and I'm seeking deliver to delivering lots of letters featuring this poetic stamp of Newcastle's important bridge."

Sonja Crisp, City of York Council's cupboard apportion for leisure, enlightenment and amicable inclusion, helped launch the York Minster stamp.

Royal Mail has released 26 stamps as segment of its AZ series, featuring landmarks from opposite the UK.

The A-Z tour beganin October final year, when Part One saw the launch of 12 1st class stamps featuring the letters A to L.

Now Part Two reveals other 14 landmarks that exist opposite the country, picking up the tour at the e-mail M and stability on to Z.

Hugh Bayley, MP for York Central said: "York Minster is an iconic symbol, not only of Yorkshire, but of the North of England.

"It is a really special devout office building and it will disturb many people to see it on a stamp. we hope it encourages people to revisit York and see the cathedral itself."
