Stamping | Tecumseh City Council Prepares To Help Lenawee Stamping Corp. Expansion

Tecumseh town officials are receiving action to help Lenawee Stamping Corp. with a part of its enlargement plans.

On a unanimous opinion Monday, the Tecumseh City Council certified a Local Development Finance Authority (LDFA) account that would gather skill taxation supports and steal from the city's broad fund. The supports would be used to supply a part of the local tie in for any mercantile growth plan give that might be awarded for improvements to East Chicago Boulevard and Rogers Highway, mentioned Kevin Welch, Tecumseh town manager.

Welch mentioned the control has been in place, but not active for a few time. The house had its initial discussion late final week.

"This sets up the initial step," he said. "If the LDFA takes on a project, you have several stairs to take for funding."

Last week, LSC voiced skeleton to spread its trickery and increase new jobs. At the same time, the firm wants to ease traffic problems around the trickery at 1200 E. Chiago Blvd. The firm wants to reconstruct the thoroughfare and increase spin lanes on both Chicago Boulevard and Rogers Highway, Welch said. The firm is seeking at adding a new eastside burden foyer to the property.

"One of the struggles the firm has had over the years is that the stream foyer on M-50 does not offer the shipping area of the office building well," Welch explained in a memo to the council. "Freight now contingency come in from the west and then trucks are compulsory to double back around the building. This has been really emasculate is to company."

Welch mentioned the state will offer a give to help with the project, but the expect cost is unknown.
The rough cost guess to increase the spin lanes is about $660,000. The state and the town have practical for a sovereign give that requires a 25 percent match, or about $155,000. The work would be finished in 2013 and LSC would be compulsory to catch the cost of any in isolation thoroughfare improvements.

"T he LDFA could financial a part of the tie in as long as it is for open thoroughfare improvements," Welch said. "We anticipate that tie in will be common between the LDFA, Lenawee Stamping and the state of Michigan."

Tax increment financing enables local mercantile growth officials to gather the skill taxation income attributable to increased assessed worth consequent from new investments inside of a directed towards area. For this project, this would be the LSC property.
